The above video displays five essential yoga exercises to fight motion sickness.
- Shirshasana (Sanskrit: Shirsh means head) or the Headstand pose, an advanced pose. Caution required
- Sarvangasana (Sanskrit: Sarva means all, and anga means limbs) or the Shoulder Stand pose. This yoga pose is an advanced posture, and please use caution
- Matsyasana (Sanskrit: Matsya means fish) or the Fish pose
- Vrikshasana (Sanskrit: Vriksh means tree) of the Tree pose. It is a balancing pose; take precautions during its practice
- Nadi Shodhan Pranayama (Sanskrit: Nadi means energy channel and Shodhan means to purify) or Alternate Nostril Breathing yoga
In the Hatha yogic tradition, Sarvangasana is a famous pose with two forms or names. First is Niralamba Sarvangasana (Sanskrit: Nir means without and Alamba means support) or the Unsupported Shoulderstand pose. Another variation is Salamba Sarvangasana (Sanskrit Sa means with and Alamba means support) or the Supported Shoulderstand pose. References to Sarvangasana dates back to the 15th century Hatha Yoga Pradipika, a classical yoga treatise written by Svatmarama, who represented the yogis of the Nath lineage. This advanced pose reverses the blood flow, so take precautions.
