- Bitilasana Marjaryasana (Sanskrit: Bitila means cow, and Marjari means cat) or the Cat Cow pose
- Upavistha Utkata Konasana (Sanskrit: Upavist means sitting, Utkata means frightening or wild, and Kona means angle) or Seated Cactus pose or the Side Stretch is a variation of the formal Goddess pose
- Ardha Matsyendrasana (Sanskrit: Ardha means half and Matsyendra means Lord of fishes) or a variation of Spinal Twist pose
Upavistha Tadasana, or the Seated Mountain pose, is a variation of Tadasana (Sanskrit: Tada means mountain), the famous standing Mountain pose in Hatha yoga. In his classical yoga text Light on Yoga (1966), BKS Iyengar mentions that Tadasana also means Samasthiti, Sama means upright and unmoved, and Sthiti means a standing state with steadiness. BKS Iyengar of the 19th century considers Tadasana a critical pose in standing yoga asanas, a modern yoga asana. However, the references to Tadasana also come in older yoga-related gymnastics text Vyayama Dipika (1896).
